Our story
Barley’s Burgers was born from a simple love of good food, great company, and one very special pup named Barley. Named after our fluffy, lovable mix of poodle, golden retriever, and Bernese mountain dog, Barley’s Burgers brings the same warmth and joy that our dog brings to our lives—straight to your plate. Our focus lies in providing fresh ground, high-quality burgers, driven by a deep respect for quality and a genuine desire to exceed expectations in the Portland area.



Our history
Our head chef and owner, Andy Sommer, discovered his love for cooking early in life and pursued it professionally by attending culinary school right here in the Portland area. Over the past 20+ years, Andy has brought his creative flavors and culinary flair to a variety of local restaurants and bars, earning a reputation for elevating traditional comfort food with bold, inspired twists.
Turning simple ingredients into unforgettable meals became more than just a job—it became a passion. So when the opportunity to own a restaurant on wheels rolled into view, Andy and his wife Amy knew it was the perfect next chapter.
Together, they launched Barley’s Burgers, combining Andy’s culinary vision with their shared love of food, community, and their beloved dog Barley. Today, they’re proud to bring their passion to the streets of Portland—one burger, hotdog, and crispy potato at a time.
